Yas is one of our IELTS tutors.

Background

Yas was born in London, but due to his dad’s job, grew up internationally. He lived in different countries until the age of 11. He has a CELTA and an MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT. Yas has been teaching English since 2005 and is qualified with a CELTA (certificate to teach English as a foreign language from Cambridge University). He also did his MA in Applied Linguistics and ELT in 2010. With almost 15 years of experience teaching English to foreign students, Yas is excited to join the E2Language team.

Top Tip for Success?

Practice English as much as you can in topics you are passionate about. So if you are into mobile phone technology, then spend time watching review videos, signing up to mobile phone forums etc.

What do you like doing in your spare time? Any hobbies?

I have many interests. I like sports and I practice a martial art called Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I watch anime. I’m also into technology and like keeping up to date with the latest tech. I also love going for walks by the river with a quality cup of coffee.

What do you do first thing every morning?

Breakfast, check my phone and then call my mum.

Do you speak any other languages?

I speak Arabic. 

What country is on your bucket list to travel to?

Japan!!!!!!

What would you like remembered about you?

I looked after my friends and family.

Who is your number one inspiration?

My parents. They struggled all their life for their children and asked for nothing back in return.

If you could have dinner with one famous person (dead or alive) who would it be?

I’d like to have dinner with Khabib Nurmagemedov, a UFC/MMA fighter.

How do you take your coffee?

Latte/flat white/cortado. Any of these things. Did I say I am obsessed with coffee?

If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Rfissa. It is a Moroccan dish and it is simply my favourite. 

What’s your favourite movie?

La Haine. It is a black and white French film from the 90s. It is about life in the suburbs of France.

What would be your superpower?

Speed – like The Flash

What would be the theme song for your life?

Ex-Factor – Lauryn Hill
