What is the CELPIP Test?
The CELPIP Test is known in full as the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program test. It is Canada’s leading English language proficiency test for immigration and for professional designation. The two available forms of the CELPIP test are CELPIP – General and CELPIP – General LS. CELPIP – General tests candidates on the four English skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking. CELPIP – General LS Test tests candidates only on their listening and speaking skills. To find out whether CELPIP – General or CELPIP – General LS is right for you, follow this link.
Why Should I Take CELPIP?
CELPIP is a specially designed Canadian English proficiency test, so it is the perfect test to take if you need to demonstrate your English language proficiency for immigration to Canada. In fact, CELPIP is one of only two English tests officially accepted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for Canadian residency and citizenship visa applications.
As a well recognised and respected high stakes English language test, CELPIP is also a great test to take if you need to obtain proof of your level of English for work or study purposes. Be sure to check which CELPIP test your organisation requires you to take before booking.
How Long Is the Exam and What Does it Involve?
CELPIP – General lasts about 3 hours and is completed in one sitting, all computerised, in a CELPIP test centre, either in Canada or internationally. It comprises four sections: listening, reading, writing and speaking. CELPIP – General LS lasts about 1 hour and 10 minutes, and only has 2 sections: listening and speaking. This test can only be taken in Canada.
