1       Winston Churchill won the 1945 election.

In the summer of 1945, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s approval rating was understandably high. He’d just led the Allies to victory in Europe, and politicians and commentators confidently predicted that he would lead the Conservatives to victory at the forthcoming general election. Yet those who anticipated Conservative victory were shocked when the Labour Party won the House of Commons in a landslide, costing Churchill his office.

Churchill was popular as a military leader, but voters favoured the Labour Party in part because, while Churchill had focused on winning the war from 1940 to 1945, the Labour Party helped rule the home front. Although the Conservatives lost in 1945, they won a majority in the early 1950s, making Churchill the prime minister again.

Nefertiti
Nefertiti (ca. 1370 – ca. 1330 BC) was an Egyptian queen and the Great Royal Wife (chief consort) of Akhenaten, an Egyptian Pharaoh. Nefertiti and her husband were known for a religious revolution, in which they worshiped one god only, Aten, or the sun disc. Akhenaten and Nefertiti were responsible for the creation of a whole new religion which changed the ways of religion within Egypt.

With her husband, she reigned at what was arguably the wealthiest period of Ancient Egypt. Some scholars believe that Nefertiti ruled briefly as Neferneferuaten after her husband”s death and before the accession of Tutankhamun, although this is a matter of ongoing debate.
